Microphone Export Cost Structure: A View from the Enping Industry Base
Why can quotes for the same handheld wireless microphone differ by a factor of two? Breaking down six main cost drivers so you can see where the differences come from when comparing prices.

Large quote variations are the most common confusion for foreign trade buyers. Rather than haggling with each supplier, understanding the cost structure first makes it easier to judge whether a low price is genuinely cheap or cutting corners where it should not.
First is the capsule. This is the core component determining audio quality. Capsules are either self-produced or outsourced, and the price gap between grades can account for 20%–35% of total unit cost. Exceptionally low quotes often mean a downgraded capsule.
Second is the wireless module. UHF modules cost noticeably more than VHF, and adjustable-frequency versions more than fixed-frequency ones. This accounts for roughly 25%–40% of unit cost and is a major source of price variation.
Third is the housing and structural parts. Metal housings differ significantly in cost from engineering plastic, and customized appearances involving tooling must amortize mold costs.
Fourth is the battery and charging solution. A standard battery compartment versus a built-in lithium battery, and simple charging versus intelligent charge management, represent substantial cost differences.
Fifth is packaging. Color boxes, gift boxes and blister packs increase in cost in that order, with manuals and multilingual labels also counted.
Sixth is certification and compliance. Exporting to the EU requires CE, and the US involves FCC requirements. If the factory bears these costs they appear in the quote; if the client bears them, the quote looks lower but total cost may be higher.
As China's microphone industry base, Enping has complete local supporting infrastructure — capsules, PCBs, injection molding, hardware and packaging can all be sourced nearby. That is the natural advantage of an industry cluster. Note, however, that within Enping, capability varies widely between factories: production scale, quality systems and export experience all affect final delivery quality.
Our advice: align the specification list before comparing prices — do not look at unit price alone. At the same quoted price, clarify the capsule grade, frequency scheme, battery solution and who bears certification costs to make an accurate judgment.
